Intel

Intel was founded on July 18, 1968 by Robert Noice and Gordon Moore along with venture capitalist Arthur Rock. Their starting fund was $2.5 million. Noice and Moore originally worked at Fairchild Semiconductor. The company originally focused on semiconductor memory. In 1970 they introduced the world's first commercially available DRAM chip, 1103. In 1971 4004 was launched, world's first commercially available microprocessor. Things continued to go pretty well for Intel being the first to bring many products to market. By 2017 AMD began to become more of threat to their business and eventually began to become a larger force in the desktop processor space. Intel is well known for bring the x86 architecture to life, this powers around 80% of PCs worldwide. Moores Law was created by Gordon Moore after concluding that the transistor count doubled each year, this would be the driving force behind innovation for the next 50 years.
